We’ve been getting this a lot lately, and our general reply has been, “Chill. It’s a cassette. Cassette’s kinda sound like shit. Embrace it.” Well, yesterday Alex and I gave it a listen and low and behold the whole mix is totally out of phase. If you’re not someone with a passing knowledge of audio engineering this is basically nerd speak for “really, really, really bad.” You read correctly; two snobs who go on and on about playing vinyl, using analog gear, the lost art of making records with great care, blah, blah, blah, weren’t paying attention and uploaded an out of phase mix. Pretty embarrassing.
BUT, we fixed it and it is now available for download on the excellent DFA Radio Mixes site where it will live forever. So if you missed it when we uploaded it the other day, your virgin ears get to hear it for the first time as we intended. If you downloaded it here or elsewhere in the past few days we kindly ask you to delete it and replace it with this new version. Do us a favor. Please?
